Last night, Slift was not at his best. He was having some throat issues, which he commented on early in the show, that caused his voice to strangle off at points and seize up, and he had trouble with just a growl at points. The song selection was good, with a mix of newer stuff and older standards, and the interplay between him and the audience was entertaining. David Lindley, an amazing master of various stringed instruments, created incredible sounds in the opening set alone on stage. Slift played guitar with him on the first couple of songs and seemed very comfortable in the role of supporting musician. The audience was supportive of his efforts and encouraging him along in spite of his vocal difficulties.
